Wot No Blogging?
The last week or so has seen some of the longest periods of inactivity here on the site for quite a while. There's been so much going on in our lives that it's been hard to find time to blog and those things I might want to mention have to be left off here in detail for now. Something wonderful is happening in our lives right now, something aside from next month's wedding, something we've both hoped and dreamed for. And while I'm not spelling it out for you, I'm sure you can read between the lines.
The recent days have been full of work and more fretting about the impending nuptials. Thanks to some extremely generous gifs by our guests we do think we'll be able to actually give them something to eat on the day. The wedding reception venue is paid for, the honeymoon is paid for (but not the travel to get there) and we'll probably be able to pay for the photographer this month too.
Yet the costs do mount up. There are several things I hadn't previously budgeted for. L tells me we have £120 of church fees to pay and £60 just for the organist. It's all adding up into a big pile of money. Right now though our priority is the reception as we try to get enough money to feed everyone. At the very least we know we can afford a buffet if need's be, but we are both hoping that we'll be able to manage the sit-down meal as originally planned.
One thing we're pretty sure won't make it from the planning to the final day is the DJ we've booked. It's a real shame, we wanted to have lots of great music for folks to dance to. And there's the all important first dance. However I do have a cunning plan forming in my mind at present which I'll discuss with the best man this weekend when we engage in the traditional drinkathon otherwise known as "The Stag Do". Hopefully amid the beery nonsense we can work out a way of having music at the venue.
I've also got to sort out what I'm going to be wearing at the wedding. Due to a change of plan by my lovely bride to be in her choice of sartorial elegance for the day I feel I have to make a similar change to make sure we look like we're in the same century. So it looks like a dark suit for me, plus a tasteful shirt and tie which I'm yet to decide on.
Amid all this there's plenty of other nonsense going on in our lives. I traded in some games at the weekend at Gamestation and managed to get a black Nintendo DS Lite that I'm rather chuffed with. Especially as it cost me no money. And of course I'm counting down the days until Monday when the new Iron Maiden album is released. Of course it's not the most wonderful and important countdown in our lives at the moment, but it's the one whose time comes first.
