The Snug

Thought I should write something as I said I was going to blog something after H's jetlag had got to him. I could have written something quite weighty, but nah I thought I'd tell you about today's humorous conversation with the boys in blue. For a bit of background I manage an Education Centre in East Durham and we have a Hall that has seen better years. The plan is to eventually pull the building down, so when the windows in the Hall get broken we end up having them boarded up rather than replacing the glass.

On Friday night/Saturday morning someone put two of the windows out in the Hall (not that I noticed as there are that many boarded up, two more make no difference). Anyway the police had sent a sniffer dog into the building as the alarm had gone off, but found nothing. This morning they came to see me, to discuss the crime, take some details down and check if anything had gone (which it hadn't). During this conversation I entered into the following conversation:-

PC "Who owns the building?"
Me "Durham County Council"
PC "Where do they live?"
Me "County Hall, Durham"
PC "So you don't know where they live"
Me "County Hall, Durham"
PC "so you don't know where they live"
Me "Yes, County Hall, Durham"
PC "Is there no house number for that?"
...some times you give up...

*Oh yes and the reason for the title of this e-mail, we have a rat in the Hall, so if it isn't the kids who broke the windows I have bl***y big rats!!
