Seeing as how H & L are to be married this Saturday, I thought I’d share with you all this little gem that landed in my inbox the other week. It seems that a Sudanese man was caught in a compromising position with a goat.
Sadly that isn’t a story I haven’t heard before, as a man up here in the North East back in 2004 was caught having oral sex with a horse. If you read the Northern Echo article you can see the man was quoted as saying he was being "nice to the horse". With his defence being that he’d slipped under the horse whilst walking across the field!
Anyway I digress, what makes the Sudanese story different from the normal goat looks at man, man thinks goat has a certain look, man has his wicked way with goat…no what makes this different is the punishment the man (Mr Tombe) received. Yes the Mr Tombe is fined, but the fine is regard as a dowry and the Mr Tombe is given the goat as he has treated the animal as if it was his wife.
What makes the story an absolute classic is the way in which the goat’s owner (Mr Alifi) describes finding Mr Tombe and his goat. Mr Alifi says that:-
"…he surprised the man with his goat."
Everytime I read that phrase I smile and want to laugh out loud. I surprised him, you can picture the scene Mr Tombe pops out for a evening stroll, sees Mr Alifi’s goat (sadly it doesn’t seem to have a name), thinks you’re a good looking goat, drops his drawers and is then surprised when Mr Alifi asks him what he’s up to, Mr Tombe presumably says its dark, all goats look alike and he thought it was his goat, shotgun wedding ensues.
I have decided that Mr Tombe must be a top comedian in Sudan has he laughably finishes his interview by saying
"We have given him the goat, and as far as we know they are still together."
Lovely isn’t it, in this day and age of people cohabiting or getting divorced, that Mr Tombe and the goat are still together! ![]()
