Remembering Uncle A
Regular readers will know that my Uncle A has been seriously ill recently. Alas he lost his fight cancer last week. This terrible disease has now taken two siblings from this family, the first being my mother in 1993.
This afternoon L and I are attending Uncle A's funeral. But before I go get ready I wanted to pay tribute to Uncle A.
As a child I believed (and still do) that A was one of the coolest men that ever lived. I spent one day a week during my childhood on his farm and always looked up to Uncle A as someone really special. He was a funny, warm-hearted and generous man. I'll always remember him with a cowboy hat on, working hard on the farm and helping this little boy do manly things like drive tractors, dig ditches and knock in fence posts with a hammer too heavy to lift.
I'll miss you Uncle A. Rest in peace.
