Not Enough Waffle
I do realise that there really haven’t been enough updates here recently. Sure there’s been plenty of computer games nonsense, but when it comes to actually waffle of a regular blog nature – it’s been rather light. Hopefully now I’ve realised this I can do something about it and ensure that there is much more waffle on the site, back to the levels of a few months ago when you couldn’t move for the stuff.
You’ll have noticed some changes around here recently, comments being ring-fenced off to registered users and you may not have noticed I’ve turned off the trackback system. I’m sad to say that the B2Evolution software that this blog uses is all too easy to spam and I’m fed up with having to clean out hundreds of spam comments every day, hopefully the next version of the software will come with an in-built system that will make spamming a lot harder.
But enough of the web stuff, what other news do I have, what’s been going on in the world of Harry? Well life is rather good for L and me here in Essex. I’ve some interesting projects I’m working on for various clients and am looking forward to Boomtown’s invasion of Los Angeles in May for the E3 Expo.
Both L and I have been playing a lot of games recently. I’ve weaned L off The Movies and instead given her a much stronger addictive concoction to player with – The Sims 2. I feel like some kind of videogames pusher, replacing her gaming weed with some crack cocaine.
I picked up SingStar 80s at the weekend and L and I had a good laugh competing to sing various 80s hits and have them scored by the PlayStation 2. I never had any change of winning any game, L has a lovely voice and I don’t. I’ve got good sustain, and I can hold a note once I’ve hit the right one, but it takes me a while of hovering sharp and flat before I get there. Despite the fact the game features two songs I hate with a passion (Billy Joel’s Uptown Girl and Soft Cell’s cover of Tainted Love) we still had a lot of fun with the game on Saturday.
I’ve also been dabbling with a few games myself on the Xbox 360. The problem at the moment is that after a long drought, too many games have been released in a short space of time. Ghost Recon Advanced Warfighter is one of the best games I’ve played, but it’s not been inside my console for a week due to the arrival of the Bethesda RPG, The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion – which is time sapping in the extreme. My 360 play is limited at the moment though due to several problems. The first is my poor eyesight and lack of contact lenses (my hospital appointment is next month) meaning I have to sit pretty close to the TV and secondly I’ve no decent cushion/stool to site on close to the TV.
This makes prolonged play rather difficult. The floors in our flat are seemingly made of granite; they are cold and hard in a way that our carpets utterly fail to disguise. It means that your ankles ache from walking round the flat if you’re not sensible enough to wear slippers. This also means if you sit on the floor you get a sore arse and back pretty quickly. Clearly I need to sort myself out with some sort of small seat or beanbag. Oh and some new lenses and a HDTV. Okay the last item isn’t essential, but we can dream can’t we?
I’ve also put on some weight recently and I feel rather lethargic. Coupled with the backache I’ve been suffering for a variety of reasons I feel pretty old at the moment. I need more exercise, but that’s easier said than done when suffering from various aches and pains. The eating less is pretty easy though, so it’s back to a healthier eating regime next week.
I think perhaps my first task in this healthy lifestyle thing, given the time, should be going to bed. So I’ll do that right now.
