News From Dorset
Don't worry - we haven't disappeared. The lack of updates is down to two things. One being so busy unpacking and moving from London to Dorset and secondly because I'm stuck on dial-up right now.
Yes dial-up. Which isn't so great when my job relies on me having a fast and reliable internet connection.
BT has cocked up three times in trying to sort out a broadband order for me. This is in part due to where we live, the broadband in the village being something of an experiment, but now it seems things might be working.
But not until March 31st, which means three more weeks of trying to work via dialup, or driving ten miles to my wonderfully understanding in-laws who do have broadband.
But apart from net problems everything is going well here. The twins have settled in nicely and seem to love our new home - not a surprise when they've got a whole playroom/conservatory full of toys.
The house is lovely. But there have been problems. There's the previously mentioned internet woes which are giving me plenty of stress about my job. And then there's the matter of the stairs in this town house.
We ordered the sofa of wifey's dreams from John Lewis only to find it wouldn't actually fit up the stairs to our first-floor lounge. Not good. So we move onto plan B, which involves a slight less posh and we hope more stairs friendly suite from Ikea. But that's going to take five weeks to be delivered. Given that our sofa was destroyed by the flood that means our lounge is a little bare. But at least we've a couple of Ikea chairs to sit on.
Those problems aside it's great to be here. We drove down to Weymouth on Sunday afternoon to let the twins play on the beach and it only took 20 minutes to get over there. Fantastic.
Tomorrow it's the twins' second birthday. Two whole years since those gorgeous bundles of mischievousness entered my life. I can't imagine life without their smiles and laughter. And it is these things I will hope to keep in mind on Wednesday which is an anniversary of a rather unpleasant kind.
Anyway sorry for the rambling post. Just wanted to keep you folks informed and say that we're okay. I'd better post this and go, I'm paying for the connection by the minute.

you got there before us........ here we stay, annexed in the north, doomed to be visitors for a wee while longer.
well done for surviving the move and remaining sane!
Belated happy birthday's to the twins - hope all well!
You drove to Weymouth - you'll have driven past my house - rigth past it - we're on the main road.
Not telling you which one though - don't want you parking up outside and hacking into my wifi...

Just got the business of my wife's employer making her flog up to London every week to sort and then we'll be a bit more sorted.
