My Car on Google Earth?
I used to have a metallic green 2.0 Ford Sierra Ghia. It was a lovely car, I bought it from a friend in 2002 and it had hardly been run in. For a 20 year old car it was immaculate and I loved the car dearly. Alas I ran it into the ground as I had an 80 mile round trip to work every day. Eventually it had to be scrapped, but not before it had given me over 30,000 miles of happy motoring. One of the things I used to love to do when I had the car was drive up into the Pennines and go walking. I took the following photo when on one of these rambles in 2002.

I was looking at this image yesterday and decided to have a look at the area on Google Earth. But I had something of a surprise, I think the Google Earth image was actually taken on the day I took the above picture. Why do I think this? Well because it seems my car, or at least a car very much like mine, was in the exact parking spot where I parked on that day. And believe me, in 2002 you didn't see many metallic green Ford Sierra's still running.
Here is the Google Earth image of the area, zoomed out somewhat.

And here is the close up image, showing what looks like a metallic green Ford Sierra, with sunroof, parked in the same place I did on that day in 2002. I know these images on Google Earth are from 2002 so I think it's a pretty fair bet this really is my car.

Now I've had a good look around the area trying to find me walking on the route I remember taking down by the reservoirs, but I've had no luck. So I could actually be sat in the car. If you'd like to look at the area for yourself, you can head there via this Google Earth KMZ Link (you must have Google Earth installed).
