After lunch Kitty and Patrick have a nap in their cots and we go to rescue them once the sounds of awake babies reaches us.
I've just been to change them and bring them downstairs for a play. Both looked like happy little things and I decided to change Kitty's nappy first. Patrick was busy giggling and wobbling around in the crawl position.
Then Patrick did something amazing.
Now as some background I should say that neither of our babies has managed to crawl properly yet even though they spend a lot of time on their hands and knees.
Sitting isn't their strong point either. We practise with them every day and Patrick is making more headway than Kitty, but still doesn't sit for long. And they always have to be put in the sitting position by us, they've never even shown the slightest hint of doing it themselves.
Imagine my surprise then on changing Kitty's nappy to turn round and see Patrick sat up in his cot. He had one foot slightly dangling out through the bars, one hand supporting him (just one hand is an achievement in itself) and the other resting on his leg. And he'd got in this position himself.
He knew he'd done something clever, there was a huge grin on his face. That got bigger as I praised and praised him.
What a genius boy.
