Well the work CMS is on the fritz this morning so that gives me a little time to waffle here. I've got my mind on so many different, yet minor, things that I wonder where to start.
I've got to pack a few things as we're off to Dorset for a few days, a nice long break until Monday. There's a holiday feeling in our house probably due to going away for a bit longer than usual and because we're getting to run off for an evening of luxury away from the twins on Friday night.
The weekend also brings a chance for me to point my camera at some interesting things. I'm particularly looking forward to doing so because I've read and learned quite a few new techniques and lessons since I last had some attractive scenery to photograph. I've got all my camera gear packed up and ready to go.
Technology is also on my mind as I have been reading around for information on why I can't make our new PC stable running two 8800GT graphics cards in SLI mode. The PC just isn't stable enough to use with both cards in, although both of them work fine on their own. I'm confident this is just a BIOS setting issue, I've just not cracked it yet. But having read a few more things about the issue I want to try again - but time is pressing now and it'll have to wait until we return from the country. Anyway, the quad core PC has pretty stunning performance without SLI, so no worries for now.
Now I wonder which books to take? I'm silly, I've got too many books on the go at once. I'm currently reading two hardbacks - The Dreaming Void by Peter F. Hamilton and Shadowplay by Tad Williams. I've a softcover history book on the go - The Third Reich: A New History by Michael Burleigh. A paperback novel - The Northern Lights by Phillip Pullman. And finally two books on my iRiver Clix 2 - Treason's Harbour by Patrick O'Brian and Hyperion by Dan Simmons. Quite a lot to track in my head at the same time. What are you reading at the moment?
Meanwhile work isn't going very well today. As I mentioned at the beginning of this post there's something wrong with the CMS system. That means we can't get features/news online so I'm left twiddling my thumbs. I hope this is fixed by the time we get to Dorset.
