The sun is shining this morning and all is well in our happy little world. Sure, Jo may be out at work - but she's earning a crust and doing her bit for our fledgling family. And the joy of having your better half out at at work while you're at home is you can get excited about their return.
Meanwhile I'm doing my bit, I'm watching our children play happily, helping them find their way back when they get lost under a sofa and enjoying being a dad. I'm even contemplating doing the washing up. Whether that actually gets done or not is a moot point1, it's the thought that counts.
Actually there is something major on my mind. Yesterday I started a new season as Morecambe in FIFA 08 (open in a new window/tab) and I'm now wondering about my team selection and formation for the next match. The default formation for the team with a lone striker really doesn't cut the mustard. I've tried three up front but that doesn't quite solve the issue - I need a pacey player if I can find one cheap enough in the transfer market.2.
I've just switched CBeebies on in the hope that The Night Garden would be on. Alas it's just the child version of Autumn Watch3 with Jelly from Story Makers and that annoying Justin bloke gurning as usual. Ah it's just finished, fingers crossed it's The Night Garden next. You may scoff, but I think Makka Pakka is one of the finest comic creations of recent years.
The last few days have seen me feel much more comfortable doing dad stuff. What do I mean by that? Well stuff that previously would stress me out is seemingly a much calmer experience now. Obviously having two babies screaming at you at the same time is never easy but that's a rare occurrence now. Our happy little babies are a real delight and lots of fun to spend time with.
Can you tell yet I'm feeling very chatty and in need of some company? We really need to get a land line sorted so people actually phone me. Since I'm only contactable by mobile now nobody actually phones me, I've become an invisible Billy-no-mates. So here I am on a Sunday morning waffling to you lot, the anonymous users of the internet and the few people I know that for some reason tune in for this nonsense.
You may have noticed the website isn't fixed yet. Those page numbers down at the bottom don't work. They work fine on some other skins (though that error message remains) but I don't like the other skins. I can't understand why the page numbers don't work properly on this skin as the code to add the numbers is exactly the same as some of the alternative blog templates.
Later this month, the 27th to be exact, is a special day. It is the anniversary of Jimi Hendrix's birthday. He was born in 1942. 30 years later, on the same date, I was born4. Not a bad shared birthday by any means. There's nothing really much I want for my birthday - I've already got everything I could ever hope for in Jo and the twins, but should you be thinking "what do I get the boy who has everything" then you can find the answer here on my Amazon Wish List (open in a new window/tab).
Right, I'm actually going to go do that washing up I was contemplating, get the twins some milk, fire up FIFA and try to sort out squad issues at Morecambe and thinking wistful happy thoughts about the most beautiful girl in the world - who will be home soon.
1Though not to you sweetheart I know!
2Sorry for boring you about videogames, I should leave that to the other place.
3Alas the kids version doesn't seem to feature Kate Humble.
4I know what you're thinking, Harry don't you dare make a comparison of your guitar playing skills.
