Get Well Soon Hamster

Poor old Hamster came a cropper this week when driving a rocket-powered dragster. It looks like he'll probably be okay eventually, but hearing the news coverage criticising the show, with talk of "stunts" and "chasing ratings" is pretty sickening. I've got the impression, seemingly coming from people who are more into hating TG rather than having concern for Hamster, that they see this is a good excuse to kill off the show.
If safety procedure has been lapse, then of course there should be a prosecution. But accidents do happen - as the HSE has acknowledged. Some things are inherently dangerous and you conduct them at your own risk. Hamster got hurt doing something he loves, something he gladly took part in and no doubt if he recovers enough will do again. Do-gooders with their fake concern trying to kill the show are hardly doing something Hamster would be in favour of. Richard Hammond is much more important than a TV show. I hope to God for him and his family he gets well. But I really hate the idea that some cynical types would use his injury to further their political agenda.
And I've even heard a few sick morons say it was a shame it wasn't Clarkson that got injured. What kind of utter tosspot wishes serious injury and death on a husband and father just because they don't agree with their politics or presentation style? The fact that these idiots seem to subscribe to some sort of caring liberal agenda makes their opinions even more hypocritical and laughable. There are plenty of targets for eco-anger before you get close to the easy target that is Top Gear. It's funny so many people will criticise cars and then quite happy get in a jet aircraft.
I watched a bit of the 10 o'clock news on the BBC and was rather horrified. Seems the knives are out for Top Gear. It reminds me a bit of when Ayrton Senna died. The critics somehow managed to have the entire sport, classic tracks and events totally screwed over and F1 has never been as interesting since. Senna's death was a freak accident many would have walked away from, but the reaction was to take away many of the aspects of F1 that made it exciting and we're left with a global collection of dull chicanes and stupid design rules for cars that make close racing impossible.
Get well soon Hamster, I just hope the buggers haven't done you out of a job by the time you're well again.
