Fox Considers a Master & Commander Sequel
The movie version of Patrick O'Brien's Far Side of the World is one of my favourite, if not my favourite, movie made in the last ten years. Master & Commander really was a triumph and cast and crew did an amazing job of bringing the world of Jack Aubrey and Stephen Maturin to life.
The movie wasn't a strait telling of book ten, instead it took elements of books one and ten, then brought in events from many other of the 21 books in the Aubryiad. This seemed the sensible approach, distilling the many tales into a movie that really captured what the series was all about.
Now there's news that there may be a sequel, at least Fox is considering it, according to Billy Boyd who played Bondon in the movie. You can read what he has to say about a possible sequel here. Beware though - there are some spoilers.
Update July 2009: Looks like a sequel is really happening now.
