Favourite Movie Scenes
I watched Where Eagles Dare again last night. It's a film I've always loved. But there's one particular scene that's absolutely fabulous and is one of my favourite sequences from any movie.
It's the scene where Major Smith, played by Richard Burton, seemingly double-crosses Lt. Shaffer (Clint Eastwood) and unmasks himself as a Nazi secret agent. As the scene plays out he continues to up the ante, particularly when the Gestapo officer joins the fray. It's wonderfully played by all cast members, particularly Richard Burton. The look on the faces of the German double-agents as they realise it's all going wrong for them is priceless, as is Shaffer's confusion with events.
It got me wondering what your favourite scenes in movies are, not your favourite movies, but actually the best sequences with those movies. Other favourites of my own I can think of off-hand are when Brody et-al are getting drunk on the boar and telling stories in Jaws, the first appearance of the T-Rex in Jurassic Park, Samuel L. Jackson's first appearance in The Long Kiss Goodnight, the visit to Miracle Max in The Princess Bride and the "I Love you/I Know" carbonite freezing scene in The Empire Strikes Back.
So what are your favourites?
