Co-ax Fun
I really love our flat, I'd go as far as saying it's my favourite place I've ever lived. However there is one downside to the place - and that is TV reception.
It's not a transmission issue - it's down to the cabling from the aerial on the roof. We have a bundle of about five co-ax cables entering the lounge from the roof and how many actually give a good signal?
None of them.
So instead I've got a small TV top aerial with a booster. It's actually pretty good, but due to the transmitter direction it has to point through the flat, making for less-than-ideal reception.
Earlier today I moved the aerial to where my PC is in a back room and discovered we could get a crystal clear Channel 5 signal from there (big deal!) but from the lounge we can't get any reception for that channel at all.
It's a bit frustrating really. I'd be very tempted to get a FreeView box, but without good reception there's no point. I'm also thinking that perhaps part of the problem is that I can't fit a co-ax plug to a cable very well and one of those many cables might actually work if I wasn't such a klutz.
Ho-hum, I guess I will just have to hope I can afford to get us wired up to cable in the near future.
