Catching Up
So it's been a few days since I last blogged so I thought I'd bring you up to speed with the goings on in our little world, well some of them anyway. I'm sat here taking a brief break from a busy day at work. I'm listening to Led Zeppelin, this morning I ripped all the studio CDs and have put the whole lot on shuffle, meaning a full day of Led Zep in random order.
The inactivity on the blog over the last couple of days is due to my beloved L and myself heading north for the weekend. We headed to my dad's place in Stockport for my brother in law's thirtieth birthday party (hope you had a great time mate!). It was a surprise bash put together my sister. Was a great do though both L and I were so tired we didn't stay the distance. It was also a chance to see some family members we'd not bumped into for a while.
I took this rather odd photograph at the party. The reason it looks so weird is that I was using the twilight portrait setting on the camera. This setting fires the flash briefly to illuminate close objects but retains a long shutter speed to capture the background. I forgot this and moved the camera before it had finished. So what we have is a strange hybrid. A sharp foreground and a blurry party behind it. Despite this being a mistake I rather like the effect and thought I'd post the image here.

Meanwhile the wedding preparations continue apace. We've had some very generous gifts towards the wedding which means some of the things we didn't think we could afford such as reception venue and some food to feed our guests now seem a possibility. Financial constraints do mean that we'll probably have to economise in some areas though - we'd asked everyone we invited to suggest songs they'd like the DJ to play. But right now we're not entirely convinced we can afford the DJ we've booked.
Yet despite those stresses both of us are looking forward to the wedding. We know the wedding service in the church will be great and are looking forward to a quiet and modest honeymoon in Cornwall. The things we're unsure off occur between those two things and there's no point us worrying about stuff we don't have the ability to change. We'll just have to wait and see what happens.
This week we've actually got to go and give notice of our wedding at the local registry office. This actually costs more money. £30 each to be precise. We live in odd times, where the laws of the land put hurdles in front of you when trying to get married but then any old idiot can have a baby without it costing a penny. Anyway, we need to get this registration sorted rather sharpish as the wedding is just a month away now.

Not that I'm panicking.
Much.
Yet.
